New brands to expand WhiteWave’s plant-based food and beverages platform

The WhiteWave Foods Co., Broomfield, Colo., announced that it has agreed to acquire So Delicious Dairy Free, Eugene, Ore., from its existing shareholders, led by Wasserstein & Co., for approximately $195 million in cash.
On Oct. 1, Federal Way, Wash.-based Fresh Matters LLC will bring back its limited-edition, seasonal Honeycrisp apple juice under its ‘tude Juice portfolio. The cold-pressed, never-heated juice rejoins the brand’s five other apple juices and 10 apple and fruit juice blends, which currently are available in 1,500 stores across the country.

Tea In First, a new Long Island City, N.Y.-based tea company, launched its debut tea: an all-natural, ready-to-drink (RTD) Spiced Chai tea latte. The company aims to settle the debate about which ingredient, milk or tea, should be added to a milk-based tea beverage first. As a result, its new Spiced Chai tea latte starts with tea and then combines farm-fresh milk and natural spices, including cardamom, cinnamon, cloves, ginger and black pepper, to create a balanced chai with lots of aroma, flavor and creaminess, the company says.
