The U.S. organic industry posted new records in 2015 with total organic product sales hitting a new benchmark of $43.3 billion, up 11 percent from the previous year's record level and far outstripping the overall food market's growth rate of 3 percent, according to the Washington, D.C.-based Organic Trade Association's (OTA) 2016 Organic Industry Survey.

The National Honey Board, Firestone, Colo., released results from an independent consumer research survey that found that 93 percent of consumers consider honey a “natural” sweetener, and 48 percent of those consumers say they look for product labels that include honey, the association says.
Naturex, Avignon, France, announced that a scientific opinion in support of a safety requested extension was released by the European Food Safety Association to the European Commission for Naturex’s Talin, a natural extract from the fruit Thaumatococcus Danielli.
