International markets driving beer, soft drink growth

London-based SABMiller plc reported total beverage volume growth of 3 percent, on an organic basis, in its first quarter of 2014, which ended June 30. In addition, the company’s group net producer revenue (NPR) was up 6 percent, and group NPR per hectoliter was up 3 percent, both on an organic, constant currency basis, in the term.
Holland, Mich.-based New Holland Brewing Co. announced a collaboration with Carhartt, a Dearborn, Mich.-based work wear brand, to brew a craft beer in honor of the clothing manufacturer’s 125th anniversary. The new brew will pay tribute to the hard-working people who wear Carhartt clothing, the companies say.

Nine new partners form network in brand’s 35th state

Fort Collins, Colo.-based New Belgium Brewing signed deals with nine wholesale partners to distribute its beer in Ohio starting Dec. 16. New Belgium’s 22-ounce Fat Tire, Ranger India Pale Ale (IPA), seasonal release Accumulation White IPA and Lips of Faith beers will be available throughout the state as a result of the new partnerships. Some draught offerings might come online in the initial rollout as well.
