Fairport Brewing Co., a Rochester, N.Y.-based farm brewery, launched its first proprietary formula, New England-style BuchaBeer (pronounced “boocha beer”), called Crown Jewel. The malt beverage combines a light and refreshing Belgian wheat-based brew containing hints of citrus and peach with a proprietary, probiotic-powered kombucha fermented tea blend, the company says.
The demand for products containing fiber, prebiotics, probiotics and “good” bacteria is on the rise as functional beverages to combat illnesses and improve consumers’ overall health have moved from niche products in specialty stores to mass retail and grocery store chains.
Dannon, a brand of White Plains, N.Y.-based DanoneWave, is announcing the addition of new Activia Dailies, a line of probiotic, low-fat yogurt drinks, to its portfolio of probiotic offerings. Like all Activia products, these 3.1-ounce drinks feature Activia's billions of live and active probiotics, but in a smaller serving size, making it more convenient to get probiotics on-the-go, the company says.
When it launched five years ago, Suja Life LLC was focused on bringing organic, cold-pressed and high-pressure processed (HPP) juices to a broader consumer base. Now, the Oceanside, Calif.-based company has spread its wings to deliver the same quality and health benefits to more beverage categories through its new 200,000-square-foot facility.
