Matchi launches Protein Matcha Lattes
Brand pairs ceremonial-grade matcha with 20 grams of protein in canned format

Matchi Global LLC, Alexandria, Va., announced the launch of Matchi, a new line of canned protein matcha lattes.
Each 8.4-ounce shelf-stable can delivers ceremonial-grade matcha — traditionally shaded and milled from first spring leaves for natural sweetness and a nutty finish — paired with 20 grams of complete filtered milk protein containing all nine essential amino acids, plus 4 grams of prebiotic fiber, the company says. The launch marks the entry of the first U.S. matcha-first brand into the rapidly expanding high-protein beverage market, it notes.
“We’re not a protein drink company with matcha. We’re a matcha company with 20 grams of protein, including all nine essential amino acids from filtered milk protein, and prebiotic fiber built in,” said Jordan Martinez, founder of Matchi Global LLC and U.S. Air Force veteran, in a statement. “If you love matcha, this is for you. If you tried matcha once and wrote it off, this is especially for you.”
Matchi launches with three flavors — Vanilla, Lavender and Banana — all built on the same recipe architecture. Each can contains no artificial flavors, colors, sweeteners or preservatives, delivering approximately 120 mg of caffeine, roughly comparable to a strong espresso, it notes. The flavor experience is latte-first: creamy oat opens the sip, the flavor becomes distinct through the middle, and smooth matcha carries the finish, the company says. The protein adds body without pushing the drink into shake territory, it notes.
Matchi’s formulation reflects 11 rounds of development guided by a single rule: if a taster takes more than three or four seconds to say, “This is great,” it is not done, it says. The result is a drink that honors matcha tradition while delivering the functional benefits modern consumers expect, it adds.
Matchi launches online-exclusive at drinkmatchi.com. Every pre-order includes a custom heavyweight tee or hat designed in partnership with Division Street in Los Angeles, creating an exclusive community around the brand, it notes.
In Spring 2027, Matchi will activate in Washington, D.C., timed to the National Cherry Blossom Festival. Select independent retail distribution will follow the DTC ramp, with national retail positioned as a future phase, the company says.
Matchi is sold in 12-packs and 24-packs at a premium price point, with a subscription option that brings the entry price below $4 per can.
As it prepares for launch, Matchi is assembling an advisory board of accomplished beverage industry veterans to help guide the brand's debut and growth, it says. Members will be announced soon, it adds.
