Lotus Elixirs North America launches botanical beverages

Brand chooses Rexam Sleek cans with tactile printing

Lotus Botanical Elixirs
September 25, 2014

Lotus Elixirs North America, Indian Wells, Calif., launched its new Lotus Botanical Elixirs in 12-ounce Sleek cans from Rexam.
Lotus Botanical Elixirs feature Lotus flowers in adaptogenic botanical formulations that are designed to balance the body and mind, the company says. The beverages, which are available in Raspberry Infused, Cranberry Infused and Wild Berry Infused flavors, are naturally sweetened and caffeinated and lightly carbonated and do not contain artificial ingredients.

Used in Egyptian, Chinese and Indian medicine for thousands of years, adaptogens are a group of botanicals believed to help restore balance to the human system, strengthen the body’s response to stress, and enhance its ability to cope with anxiety and fight fatigue, according to the company. They are called adaptogens because of their ability to “adapt” their function according to the body’s specific needs to normalize inbalances, it adds.

“Stress creates imbalance in the body, resulting in a wide range of physical and emotional symptoms including low energy, anxiety, irritability, lack of sleep, focus and performance,” said Scott Strader, chief executive officer and founder of Lotus Elixirs North America, in a statement. “Functional drinks address the symptoms of imbalance; Lotus Elixirs address the cause of imbalance.”

To package the new elixirs, Lotus Elixirs North America partnered with Chicago-based Rexam Beverage Can North America (BCNA) to create packages with tactile printing to convey a raised and textured portion of the package that offsets the reflective, bright colors of the can design, it says.

“The challenge for us was to convey the iconic Lotus flowers with vibrancy and artistic integrity on an aluminum can,” Strader said in a statement. “We took great pains to design a simple, clean package that would highlight the premium quality of our product. Rexam’s unique tactile finish creates a texture on the can for an inviting feel that creates an instantaneous relationship when you hold it in your hand. We have already gotten tremendous feedback from customers who comment that every can should have this great feature.”

Lotus Botanical Elixirs selected Rexam Sleek cans because of their ability to convey the brand’s premium image, it says. Lotus Botanical Elixirs currently are available in many natural and specialty retail outlets in southern California, with plans for continued expansion.
