Carbonated soft drinks (CSDs) have long been the top seller in the U.S. beverage market based on volume. Last month, however, New York-based Beverage Marketing Corporation (BMC) announced that U.S. volume sales of bottled water eclipsed CSDs in 2016, making it the No. 1 consumed packaged beverage. This shift followed more than a decade’s worth of single-digit volume declines for soft drinks.
Neely named 2017 Trade Association CEO of the Year

CEO Update has named Susan K. Neely, president and chief executive officer (CEO) of the Washington, D.C.-based American Beverage Association (ABA), the 2017 Trade Association CEO of the Year, an annual award recognizing outstanding trade association executives. Neely received the award for her forward-thinking leadership as the head of the ABA and her dedication and service to the wider association community, the company says.
Introduces Mtn Dew White Label, Mtn Dew Green Label

Following the success of Mtn Dew Black Label last year, Mountain Dew, a brand of Purchase, N.Y.-based PepsiCo Inc., is creating the Mtn Dew Label Series — a line of premium sodas from Dew with unique flavors and herbal and citrus bitters. The new line of bold, yet refined, beverages now includes the citrus-flavored Mtn Dew White Label and the apple-kiwi flavored Mtn Dew Green Label, the company says.
As Perrier Artist of the Year, HOTTEA will kick off a year-long partnership with the brand and will have his original design featured on limited-edition packaging, which will be available in the United States later this year.
New aluminum cans designed for on-the-go consumption

DRY Soda Co. unveiled its Ginger DRY Sparkling flavor in easily transportable 12-ounce aluminum cans at the 2017 Winter Fancy Food Show. Ginger DRY Sparkling in 12-ounce aluminum cans and four-packs will be available beginning this month at select Kroger and Safeway stores nationwide with a suggested retail price of $5.99.
