New York-based All Market Inc., doing business as Vita Coco, announced that it has sold 25 percent of the company to Reignwood Group, the Beijing-based parent company of Red Bull China, at an enterprise valuation of approximately $665 million.
From 2009 to 2014, juice and smoothie bars saw a 2 percent rise in revenue each year, according to a May 2014 report by IBISWorld, Santa Monica, Calif., titled “Juice & Smoothie Bars in the US.”
Ten years ago, U.S. consumers might have thought you were a bit “nutty” if you told them that coconut water would be a multimillion-dollar beverage category one day. In fact, Vita Coco Co-founders Michael Kirban and Ira Liran didn’t even believe it at that time.

Coconut water brand to help athletes, spectators stay hydrated

Foco coconut water, an import brand of Brooklyn, N.Y.-based Vasinee Food Corp., announced that it is the official coconut water of the Seaside Soccer Storm Tournament, which will take place June 13 and 14 in Seaside Heights, N.J. One hundred youth teams from New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania with players between the ages of 8 and 19 will participate in the tournament. The event also is expected draw 3,000-4,000 spectators, according to the brand.
Cocozia, a brand of Epicurex LLC, North Miami Beach, Fla., is expanding its reach into Earth Origins Market and Mom’s Organic Market stores. The coconut water brand will be available at more than 10 Mom’s Organic locations in Maryland, Pennsylvania and Virginia. Earth Origins Markets has locations in Florida, Maryland and Massachusetts.
Life Up LLC, the Brooklyn, N.Y.-based importer and distributor of Foco coconut water announced the appointment of Donna Bimbo as chief executive officer and Bob D’Amico as chief marketing officer.
Coconut water brand partners with actress Jessica Alba

Zico, a coconut water brand of Atlanta-based The Coca-Cola Co., announced that actress Jessica Alba will serve as brand ambassador for its new “Crack Life Open” national brand campaign. The multimillion-dollar campaign includes Zico print, out-of-home (OOH) and digital advertising across the United States.
In support of the brand’s expanded national distribution, Greater Than natural coconut water refreshed its formulation and packaging based on consumer feedback.
The Juice Products Association (JPA) released a statement in January highlighting the nutritional benefits of 100 percent juice. “Can something that tastes as good as 100 percent fruit juice be good for you? Research shows it is,” the statement read. “More than just sugar and calories — 100 percent juice is a healthful, nutrient-dense beverage. It also contains beneficial vitamins, minerals and phytonutrients (plant compounds).”
