Costa platform will help expand company’s coffee presence

The Coca-Cola Co., Atlanta, has completed the acquisition of Costa Ltd. from Whitbread PLC. The $4.9 billion transaction follows approval from regulatory authorities in the European Union and China. The acquisition was first announced Aug. 31, 2018.

This holiday season, Seattle-based Starbucks Corp. has more surprises in store to share with consumers. The company announced the release of Juniper Latte, a new wintery beverage that features a hint of juniper and sage, an evergreen aroma and citrus notes, it says. Juniper Latte is available at participating Starbucks locations in the United States starting today (Nov. 27) for a limited time, while supplies last.
The quest to perfect and expand on traditional offerings continues to evolve as witnessed by national cocktail competitions, happy hours and step-by-step recipes on websites and cocktail chatbots, which are furthering consumers’ fascination and enjoyment of cocktails at home and on-premise.
The market research firm reported in its 2018 Beverage Consumer Trend Report that more consumers today than two years ago indicate that non-alcohol beverages are “very important” when deciding where to dine.

The Coca-Cola Co., Atlanta, has reached a definitive agreement to acquire Costa Ltd., which was founded in London in 1971. The acquisition of Costa from parent company Whitbread PLC is valued at $5.1 billion and will give Coca-Cola a strong coffee platform across parts of Europe, Asia Pacific, the Middle East and Africa, with the opportunity for additional expansion, the company says.
Rounding out the Top 3 was that HOT Canned Coffee, New York, announced that its grab-and-go HOTSHOT hot coffees and hot chocolate now are available on Amazon.com.
