Brightseed, the San Francisco-based bioactives company, announced the publication of its Questionnaire Based Clinical (QBC) Study, “An upcycled dietary fiber rich in bioactives from hemp hulls supports digestive comfort in healthy adults,” in the Journal for Bioactive Compounds in Health and Disease. The study highlights Bio Gut Fiber’s performance in improving digestive wellness with superior digestive comfort, the company says. Study highlights include that bioactives outperforms in digestive comfort, noting that Bio Gut Fiber surpasses inulin, the leading dietary fiber ingredient, by offering a gut friendly GI experience. Additionally, the study found it improves digestive quality of life as it reduces common challenges like gas, bloating and belly pain. Another finding was it enhances mental and physical digestive wellness as the clinical evidence demonstrates significant benefits in promoting overall gut health. “Adding more dietary fiber to one’s diet is essential for gut health, but it can often cause discomfort,” said Swati Kalgaonkar, head of medical, scientific and regulatory affairs at Brightseed, in a statement. “Bio Gut Fiber is clinically proven to be GI gentle, ensuring greater compliance with fiber intake while supporting microbiome wellness, regularity, and better gut health outcomes.”

Bell Flavors & Fragrances Inc., Northbrook, Ill., announced the appointment of Lee Brooks as chief operating officer. “It gives me great pleasure to announce Lee Brooks’ appointment to chief operating officer of Bell Flavors & Fragrances. This well-deserved promotion is a testament to Lee's unwavering dedication, exceptional work ethic, and inclusive cross-functional and operational leadership,” said Ron Stark, president and CEO, in a statement. “Since joining our team, Lee has consistently demonstrated a remarkable ability to drive operational excellence, while taking on more responsibilities and fostering a culture of teamwork focused on safety and continuous improvement. Lee leads by example with thorough execution and follow-through, and he demonstrates a personal commitment to each direct report, his team and our company's success. He has been instrumental in increasing our growth and laying the strategic groundwork for even greater growth for our company in the future.” In this role, Brooks will oversee Bell’s global operations, driving excellence in service, efficiency, and innovation while ensuring alignment with the company’s strategic objectives.

Kemin Industries, Des Moines, Iowa, announced the benefits of its natural sleep nootropic, DailyZz, in a study of its post-sleep benefits, as seen in the International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health. This proprietary botanical blend of spearmint and green tea extracts works while users sleep, providing them with post-sleep benefits for sharper cognitive daytime performance, including improved mental speed, focus, working memory, and decision‑making, it says citing the Journal. The science-backed ingredient has been clinically shown to demonstrate post-sleep benefits, as participants taking DailyZz showed significant improvements in mental speed, accuracy, concentration, and judgment during the day, the company says. One study showed that participants taking DailyZz reported twice the improvement in sleep quality, compared with the placebo group. One of the standout findings of the study was the significant enhancement in daytime cognitive performance, including a five-fold improvement in focus, a 20-millisecond improvement in reaction time, and a 60% improvement in working memory. This comes as a 2022 Gallup and Casper poll titled “The state of sleep in America” found that 84 million adults (nearly one in three) in the United States do not consistently obtain the recommended amount of undisturbed rest they need for overall health maintenance.
