Codigo 1530, Amatitán, Mexico, released a special edition double barrel Rosa-Reposado with country music legend and active partner George Strait.

Codigo’s Tequila Rosa-Blanco is a naturally pink hued tequila procured from resting its pure Blanco expression in the French white oak Napa Valley Cabernet wine barrels for one month. Codigo 1530 and Strait have taken this a step further by releasing a Special Edition Double Barrel: Rosa-Reposado Tequila.

Strait is an active partner in Codigo 1530, due to his love of the finest tequila, and has remained intertwined “because the product is just that good — so good that he even wrote a song about it,” the company says. Moreover, Strait sought to “create another expression that was more widely accessible for his fans to taste, try and love.”

“I was curious to further age our popular Tequila Rosa-Blanco until it graduated into the Reposado category, without charring the barrels first as we normally would for our Reposado,” Strait said in a statement. “The lack of charred barrel influence allows the agave to shine through. To complete this expression, it is finished in Spanish Sherry casks to add an unmatched sweetness.

“The flavor was too unique to not bottle it,” he continued. “If you enjoy our Tequila Rosa-Blanco, you will love this Rosa-Reposado, as its finish is even deeper and richer.”

Tequila Rosa-Reposado bottles are hallmarked with a special edition print that features Strait’s famous silhouette, guitar and signature. Each bottle is hand filled and packaged in a 750-ml bottle of Mexican, bubbled glass with an artfully raised symbolic Jerusalem Cross from the Jalisco region on its shoulder and branded in its base, according to the company.

The George Strait Special Edition Rosa-Reposado Tequila is available to purchase for $74.99-79.99 for a bottle at Codigo 1530’s website, www.codigo1530.com and at licensed retail outlets. Previous special editions such as the George Strait Añejo and George Strait Extra Añejo, retail for $120 and $350, respectively.
