Gordon Biersch Brewing Co. announced the limited-edition release of Maibock. The malty, German-style lager gets its flavor from heavy doses of dark-roasted caramel malt, the company says. Like all Gordon Biersch products, Maibock is brewed in adherence to  “Reinheitsgebot,” the German purity law of 1516, which requires that beers use only four  ingredients: water, malt, hops and yeast. With 7.3 percent alcohol by volume, the beer contains 25 international bittering units, the yeast strain Weihenstephan 34/70, and Hallertau aroma hops. Available through April, Maibock is sold in six-packs for a suggested retail price between $8.99 and $9.99.
