PepsiCo donates $500,000 toward tornado relief efforts

The PepsiCo Foundation, Purchase, N.Y., committed $500,000 to non-profit partners leading relief and recovery efforts in Missouri as a result of tornados and severe weather. The contribution is in addition to the Foundation’s $125,000 commitment to areas of the Southern United States affected by recent storms, the company said.

The Campbell Soup Co., Camden, N.J., expanded its V8 franchise with the announcement of V8 V-Fusion + Energy drinks and V8 Energy Shots. Each beverage provides one combined serving of vegetables and fruit as well as a natural energy boost from green tea extract, the company said.

Overall consumption of bottled water increased by 3.5 percent in the United States in 2010, according to the International Bottled Water Association (IBWA), Alexandria, Va. The association released its 2010 bottled water statistics, which were compiled by Beverage Marketing Corp. (BMC).

Samuel Adams uncaps biennial extreme beer release

Brewer and founder of The Boston Beer Co., Jim Koch announced this month’s release of the 2011 batch of Samuel Adams Utopias. The barrel-aged strong, rich, uncarbonated dark beer is meant to be savored like a vintage fortified wine or fine cognac as a 2-ounce pour at room temperature in a snifter glass, the company says.
