$20 million investment equates to 11.7 percent ownership stake for DPS

Plano, Texas-based Dr Pepper Snapple Group Inc. (DPS) has reached an agreement to make an equity investment in BA Sports Nutrition LLC, owner of BodyArmor SuperDrink, a line of premium sports drinks. The $20 million investment gives DPS an 11.7 percent ownership position in BA Sports Nutrition.
Recently, plant-based dairy alternatives such as almond milk and coconut milk are taking their success mainstream. Although soy milk has been an option available at major coffeehouses for years, only recently did almond and coconut milk begin making an appearance.

Food and beverage companies continue to show their philanthropic sides through donations to disaster relief and humanitarian efforts to support victims of the Nepal-area earthquake on Saturday, April 25.
Kalaheo, Hawaii-based KonaRed Corp. reported an 80 percent increase in consumer product sales plus delivery revenues to nearly $1.1 million for 2014, compared with nearly $605,000 the previous year. Net sales for the company, which includes consumer product sales, delivery fees and raw material ingredient sales, increased 39 percent to nearly $1.3 million, compared with nearly $906 million in 2013.
Coconuts, which are the fruit of a special type of palm tree found in the tropical zone, previously could be found primarily as a flavor complement in numerous beverage categories.
