Bell’s Brewery founder, Larry Bell announced that he has reached an agreement with Lion, an Australian-based brewer, for the sale of Bell’s. Lion acquired Colorado’s New Belgium Brewing in 2019. The Brewers Association (BA), Boulder, Colo., partnered with Bottleshare, a fundraising nonprofit dedicated to the craft beverage community, to create the Believe in Beer Fund to support breweries and state brewers guilds impacted by the coronavirus pandemic. The fund is open for breweries and guilds from across the country to apply for immediate financial assistance for operational expenses such as payroll, rent and utilities.
In the past two decades, craft beer has been the darling of the beverage industry as the domestic beer segment produced, at times, double-digit growth in sales and volume. As that performance has decelerated to single digits, analysts suggest this could be a sign that the market has reached a maturation point.
