St. Louis-based Anheuser-Busch, a division of Anheuser-Busch InBev, opened The Biergarten at its Brewery and Tour Center in St. Louis. The outdoor establishment offers guests a place to gather and relax while enjoying a beer experience, including exploring lager beers and trying ales and other specialty beers, the company says.
More than 135 tons of waste to be eliminated monthly

Chicago-based MillerCoors announced that its Golden Brewery in Golden, Colo., now is landfill-free. Building on its experience in making four of its other breweries landfill-free, this latest achievement means that one of the largest breweries in the United States eliminated an average of 135 tons of waste monthly that was previously sent to a landfill, according to the company.
Full Sail Brewing Co. released the newest beer in its Brewer’s Share Series: Vendell Veizen Weizen Bock, developed by the company’s Assistant Packaging Supervisor Wendell Bryant.
With a goal of creating a cohesive look to create brand recognition and communicate the quality of its Belgian-style ales, Ommegang Brewery enlisted the help of Duffy & Partners, Flower City Printing and AR Metallizing.
After enduring contraction the last few years, the overall beer market is on the uptick, says Dan Wandel, senior vice president of beverage alcohol client insights for Chicago-based SymphonyIRI Group.
The Brewers Association, Boulder, Colo., released mid-year numbers for America’s small and independent craft brewers. Dollar sales were up 14 percent in the first half of 2012, and volume increased 12 percent during that same time period, the association said.
The U.S. craft brewing industry increased 13 percent in volume and grew 15 percent in retail sales in 2011, according to full year data released by the Brewers Association, Boulder, Colo. The increases accounted for 1.3 million additional barrels from 2010 to 2011, during which annual craft beer production reached nearly 11.5 million barrels, the association said.
