To help FANUC robots easily locate packaged boxes, Motion Controls Robotics released its patent-pending Robotic Tape Inspection Station. The station consists of a FANUC robot along with vision programming to detect the proper application of tape on a variety of case sizes that run through the conveyor station, the company says. Benefits of robotic tape inspection include flexibility to fit any setup and rate; a small footprint robot cell that easily can be added to any current conveyor; and the ability to seamlessly handle and inspect a variety of case sizes in random positions on the conveyor. The company’s error-proofing tape detection system can save companies thousands of dollars in shipping costs and save customer issues by detecting improperly sealed cases, thereby preventing production loss, product damage and reshipping damaged product.
