Frugalpac announced a new innovation for wine and spirits: the Frugal Bottle. Made from 94 percent recycled paperboard, the 75-ml Frugal Bottle contains a food-grade liner to hold the alcohol. The refrigeration-friendly packaging keeps the liquid cooler for longer, the company says. In addition, the sustainable, easily recyclable bottle is made with the lowest carbon footprint, ensuring that the packaging does not end up in landfill. The bottle also is comparable in cost to a labeled glass bottle. The bottle design also is better for the environment, as the carbon footprint is up to six times (84 percent) less than that of a glass bottle and more than a third less than that of a bottle made from 100 percent recycled plastic, it adds. Weighing 83 grams, the Frugal Bottle is up to five times lighter than a normal glass bottle, making it easier to carry and lighter to transport, it says. The paperboard bottle also stands out on shelves by allowing for 360-degree branding. Additionally, wine and spirits’ producers can produce the bottles in their own bottling facility, with complete freedom on design and printing.
