Tata Waters, a division of Montvale, N.J.-based Tata Global Beverages, and Talking Rain Beverage Co., Preston, Wash., have joined forces in bringing a new premium bottled water, Himalayan Natural Mineral Water, to the U.S. market.

The release of this product follows a 20-year journey through the Himalayan Mountains, where the natural water travels through the mountains, passing through layers of rock, sand, and silt, according to the company. The brand adds that throughout this journey, their water picks up helpful minerals, like magnesium, calcium, and sodium from Himalayan sea salt. As the journey comes to an end, the water arrives in a confined aquifer — 400 feet below the ground, where it remains in its natural state, impermeable to bacteria. As a result of the 20-year journey, Himalayan Natural Mineral Water is naturally ready for consumption, the company adds.

Tata Waters President Stephen Rice stated, “Himalayan Natural Mineral Water is one of the first premium Indian fast-moving consumer goods brands to target the broader American audience and we look forward to working with Talking Rain to establish a strong market presence.”

Marcus Smith, president of Talking Rain Beverage Co. added” “We are proud to be partners with Tata Waters. We are thrilled that the groundwork laid by the company and our distributor and retail partners has allowed the opportunity for a partnership of this kind, and we look forward to playing an instrumental role in the successful U.S. market entry for Himalayan Natural Mineral Water.”

The mineral-and-electrolyte-enhanced water will make its debut in selected retailers in Chicago and Southern California, as well as nationally distributed via Amazon.com. Himalayan Natural Mineral Water is available in 500-ml bottles and 500-ml four-packs, for a suggested retail price (SRP) of $1.59 and $5.69. The mineral water also is available in 1-liter bottles, with a SRP of $2.39.
