Red Bull North America Inc., Santa Monica, Calif., announced a limited-edition Red Bull Kris Bryant can is hitting shelves across Chicagoland and parts of the Midwest, just in time for the start of the 2018 MLB season. This will be the first packaging collaboration with the Chicago Cubs third baseman, who was the National League’s 2016 Most Valuable Player.
To accompany the new limited-edition can, Bryant and Red Bull are releasing a new prank video titled “Special Delivery.” The piece features Bryant undercover making pizza deliveries to unsuspecting fantasy baseball leagues during their all-important drafts. Bryant has a successful track record of pranks including The Transfer (Kris Bryant pranks college baseball team) and The Sound Guy (Hall of Fame pitcher Greg Maddux pranks Kris Bryant) all produced with Red Bull, the company says.
The limited-edition Red Bull Kris Bryant can also features a Snapchat Snapcode that unlocks augmented reality experiences:
- World Experience: Allows fans to pitch to Kris Bryant who appears in their world
- Front Facing Experience: The selfie lens transforms the user’s face into a baseball that Bryant hits into the air
The limited-edition can, sold as a single 12-ounce Red Bull Energy Drink, will be available across the Cubs home TV territory, which includes parts of Illinois (Aurora, Rockford, Joliet, Naperville, Springfield, Peoria, Elgin and Waukegan), Indiana (Indianapolis, Fort Wayne, South Bend and Bloomington), and Wisconsin (Kenosha).
