The company recently entered into an agreement with Switzerland-based Unipektin Ingredients AG to be the exclusive distributor of VIDOFIBRE BF in the United States, Canada and Mexico.

Keeping with its efforts to promote sustainability and economic fairness, privately owned Ciranda Inc., Hudson, Wis., announced that 100 percent of its shares were sold to an Employee Stock Ownership Plan. Ownership of the company will be shared with all eligible employees through annual stock distributions, giving employees a growing ownership stake in the company, it says. The sale became effective Oct. 1, at the start of the company’s fiscal year.

New York-based Kyowa Hakko USA announced that its Cognizin citicoline now is being used in a new product called Focalis. Developed by Focalis and Uniwell Laboratories, Focalis offers next-level focus without the side effects of common stimulants, the company says. The product boasts the ability to boost energy levels and support overall mood, memory, alertness and focus, it adds.

Kerry, Beloit, Wis., published a report based on a consumer research study focused on clean label. The company measured consumer perceptions of 54 ingredients to understand how nutritional standards are changing across generations. The findings, which are available in a white paper, are specific to American consumers and include an actionable definition of “clean label” and an understanding of what consumers want and don’t want in their foods, the company says. The study found that clean label is multidimensional to consumers and combines ingredients, nutrition and sustainability, it adds.

Kona, Hawaii-based CoffeeFruit Pure announced a new partnership with Montclair, Calif.-based Ingredients By Nature in which CoffeeFruit Pure will be the exclusive supplier of premium coffee fruit ingredients for Ingredients By Nature.

Givaudan, Vernier, Switzerland, is acquiring the nutrition division of Botucatu, Brazil-based Centroflora Group, as part of its 2020 strategy to strengthen its global offerings of natural extracts and further develop its presence in Brazil. Centroflora’s nutrition division (Centroflora Nutra) manufactures botanical extracts and dehydrated fruits for the food, beverage and other consumer goods sectors. In other news, San Jose, Calif.-based Draco Natural Products Inc. announced the formation of a strategic partnership with Givaudan for the development of a new proprietary line of bioactive botanical ingredients. Draco specializes in manufacturing extract ingredients.

Itami, Japan-based Matsutani Chemical Industry Co. Ltd. announced the results of a new study it conducted along with Nagasaki University. The study found that in addition to its sweetening properties, d-allulose might also aid in weight management by enhancing post-meal fat oxidation and decreasing carbohydrate oxidation.
