The tremendous rise in U.S. bottled water consumption has resulted in significant caloric savings, according to a new study from the Beverage Marketing Corporation (BMC), New York. As Americans increasingly have opted for calorie-free bottled water instead of other beverages, they have collectively cut 61 to 68 trillion calories during the past 15 years (2000-2015), the market research firm reports.

Premium spirits company Milestone Brands LLC, Austin, Texas, announced the acquisition of American Born Moonshine from Nashville, Tenn.-based Windy Hill Spirits. Milestone Brands LLC, which also recently acquired Dulce Vida Tequila, was formed in February by Eric Dopkins, former chief executive officer of Deep Eddy Vodka, and Chad Auler, co-founder of Deep Eddy Vodka.

Canton, Mass.-based Dunkin' Donuts announced the launch of its latest beverage innovation: Fruited Iced Teas. Exclusively available at Dunkin' Donuts restaurants across the six New England states this summer, Fruited Iced Teas feature the brand's freshly-brewed black or green iced tea sweetened with fruit juice and real fruit, the company says. Dunkin' Donuts' Fruited Iced Teas are offered in two varieties — Mango Pineapple and Blackberry — with both containing fewer than 100 calories for any size, it adds.

Bottled water sees accelerated growth, consumption

Bottled water poised to the be largest beverage category by volume in America by 2017

The International Bottled Water Association (IBWA), Alexandria, Va., in conjunction with New York-based Beverage Marketing Corporation (BMC), released 2015 bottled water statistics, which show that Americans’ consumption of bottled water increased by 7.9 percent and bottled water sales are up 8.9 percent from the previous year, according to the companies.
