Francis Ford Coppola Winery, Geyserville, Calif., premieres two limited-edition wines to be served at the 92nd Oscars and the Governors Ball on Feb. 9, including a 2017 Reserve Chardonnay and 2018 Reserve Pinot Noir. These new wines from Sonoma County are bottled with a sleek gold-colored exterior finish inspired by one of the motion picture industry's top honors, the company says.
The latest consumer data from New York-based Nielsen CGA has revealed that Thanksgiving is the most valuable annual occasion for still wine, providing ample opportunity for local bars and restaurants expecting an influx of hometown consumers this week, it says. Wine outperforms spirits, beer, cocktails and soft drinks in that 39 percent of U.S. consumers choose to drink wine when out-of-home during the Thanksgiving period, with significant opportunity for wine-led bars as well as specific dining channels where wine and food pairings are key.
The new dual-layered labels, which were created by Italian design agency Robilant Associati, are designed to be peeled back, unveiling an inside layer of colorful artwork that is unique to each wine.
