Small and independent craft brewers across the country have created a special beer in honor of American Craft Beer Week (ACBW), May 16-22. The campaign, hastag #MakeSmallBeerBig, aims to celebrate the week with the Biggest Small Beer Ever Made, which was made by participating brewers in all 50 states using the same ingredients and recipe, according to Boulder, Colo.-based Brewers Association (BA).

Nielsen CGA, a branch of New York-based Nielsen, released its first fully projected on- premise measure for the U.S. Beverage Alcohol market which takes a side-by-side look at the state of the U.S. Beverage Alcohol market compared with Great Britain, a market in which full measurement has been available for 10 years, the company says. Great Britain is a gateway for United States’ on-premise retailers and drinks businesses into Europe given the similarities between the two regions, according to the market research firm. The insights from this report highlight opportunities both domestically and internationally, it adds.
Consumers have become more open to new flavors and innovations as interest in health and wellness and consuming natural and organic products continues to grow.

St. Louis-based Anheuser-Busch, a division of Anheuser-Busch InBev, announced an agreement to acquire Roseland, Va.-based Devils Backbone Brewing Co., a leading and fast-growing craft brewery in Virginia.

Another Tuesday and we have another group of presidential primaries. Some might be fatigued from the constant polling coverage from consumer media outlets of these elections, but the readers of Beverage Industry continue to vote for the Readers’ Choice New Product of the Month poll.
Not too long ago I tried Not Your Father’s Root Beer at a friend’s college graduation party. The flavored beer was a nice change for me, as it offered a different kind of flavor with less alcohol than a spirit, which I appreciated.
