Small and independent craft brewers across the country have created a special beer in honor of American Craft Beer Week (ACBW), May 16-22. The campaign, hastag #MakeSmallBeerBig, aims to celebrate the week with the Biggest Small Beer Ever Made, which was made by participating brewers in all 50 states using the same ingredients and recipe, according to Boulder, Colo.-based Brewers Association (BA).

“There’s nothing more American than small and independent craft brewers and their amazing, full-flavored beer. American Craft Beer Week is a time to raise a glass and toast to how they have forever changed our beer culture, economy, communities and country as a whole,” said Julia Herz, publisher of CraftBeer.com and craft beer program director at the BA, in a statement. “Craft beer is a unique community where competitors work together to provide beers that represent authenticity, quality and innovation. The unity and collaboration behind the Biggest Small Beer Ever Made shows brewers believe that the success of other independent brewers is their own success.”

Presented by CraftBeer.com, the nationwide campaign #MakeSmallBeerBig, is amplified through social and digital promotion showcasing the beer and creating a unified voice for the craft brewing community, the BA says. Visual elements including a graphic and video represent the Biggest Small Beer Ever Made and the more than 4,400 small and independent brewers throughout the United States, it adds.

The beer, which can be sampled at more than 100 breweries throughout the country, was inspired by one recipe. Each participating brewery was invited to brew the beer with the understanding that even with the same recipe, no beer would be exactly the same, the BA says.

This year also marks the return of the American Craft Beer Week Nationwide Toast. At 8 p.m. ET on May 19, small brewers and craft beer lovers nationwide can raise a glass of the Biggest Small Beer Ever Made or their favorite indie craft brewed beer to simultaneously toast ACBW.
