Nina Dobrev, Julianne Hough unveil Fresh Vine Wine

Wine company features collection low-carb, low-calorie wines

Fresh Vine Wine
March 23, 2021

Best friends and entrepreneurs Nina Dobrev and Julianne Hough introduced their company: Fresh Vine Wine, an exclusive collection of premium low-carb, low-calorie, gluten-free, and keto- and vegan-friendly wines available nationwide.

Fresh Vine Wines are a collection of bold, crispy, and creamy wines that embody health, warmth, and a deeper connection to wellness and an active lifestyle. Produced in Napa, Calif., the Fresh Vine Wine collection features a California Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, California Rosé and a Limited Reserve Napa Cabernet.

“Julianne and I were inspired to create Fresh Vine Wines after noticing the growing number of consumers making healthier choices surrounding wellness and longevity while also searching for a wine that compliments their lifestyle choices instead of undermining them,” said Fresh Vine Wine Co-Owner Dobrev, in a statment. “We have similar work schedules and at the end of the day, we love unwinding with a glass of wine. We always had this dream to venture into the wine industry and create a product that reflected who we are. After meeting with the Fresh Vine Wine team, we immediately knew that this was an incredible opportunity to partner and together we could try to create something that evoked a guilt-free experience.”

Fresh Vine Wine Co-Owner Hough added: “The very foundation of my friendship with Nina is built upon experiencing and sharing life together, always with a glass of wine in hand. We both lead very active and physical lifestyles, with a holistic approach, so we wanted to make a product that not only complimented our lives but was also still of premium quality and impeccable taste. If we learned anything from the experience of living through the year 2020, it was that connection and celebrating the small things in life are so incredibly important to the emotional, mental and physical well-being of humankind. Because we were all forced to stay apart, finding alternative ways to connect was imperative. It was incredible to see people finding other ways to bond – including many virtual wine nights. As we look toward brighter days where we all can be together safely in person, Fresh Vine Wine will be a great way to toast to each other with a high quality, delicious product.”

Seeking to learn everything they could about the industry, Dobrev and Hough completely immersed themselves into the world of wine. Award-winning Napa Valley winemaker Jamey Whetstone, collaborated with the Fresh Vine Wine team on the 2018 and 2019 Fresh Vine Wine varietals. Whetstone began his former winemaking education in 1998 at Turley Wine Cellars, where he would remain in his apprenticeship until 2005. By tapping Whetstone and working closely with other members of the Fresh Vine Wine team, Dobrev and Hough researched the gap in the wine category to determine what consumers wanted that they were having trouble getting. Together, they discovered that consumers were looking for a premium low-calorie wine that did not sacrifice on taste.

“It has been exciting to collaborate with Nina and Julianne to create a very special collection of wines. It was clear that they both share a passion and desire to produce wine of the highest quality that caters to those who live a holistic lifestyle,” Whetstone said. “We decided to follow winemaking aesthetics carried out in Europe and Napa Valley. It has been incredible watching Nina and Julianne gain a better understanding of the wine industry, from taking the time to learn about the different grapes and aging processes to what it means to be considered a ‘clean’ wine.”

All wines in the Fresh Vine Wine collection use a proprietary and natural winemaking process with high and low fermentable sugar grapes. The grapes are hand-selected from California in collaboration with top leading wine growers to ensure taste is never sacrificed. The wines are lab tested in-house and by a third-party Lab company with more than 20-years of experience to ensure the best quality.

“In addition to the upcoming wine launches, we are also planning a few exciting Fresh Vine Wine activations for later this year,” said Rick Nechio, co-founder of Fresh Vine Wine. “As tourism travel slowly gets back to normal, we understand in the next year traveling will have some limitations. In order to address that, we are excited to bring the Napa Valley wine experience to wine enthusiasts across the country through pop-up wine tasting rooms that will combine food, music and wine to a town near you.”

The California Cabernet Sauvignon ($21.89), Pinot Noir ($18.99), and Chardonnay ($17.99) are available for purchase on FreshVineWine.com. The California Rosé ($14.89) and Limited Reserve Napa Cabernet ($80) are available for pre-sale nationwide on FreshVineWine.com, with the California Rosé debuting this spring/summer and the Limited Reserve Napa Cabernet in the fall.
