Agriculture industry demands natural ingredients for soil amendment
Beverly, Mass.-based PROVA Inc. has hired Julia Decruz as the company’s new director of research and development (R&D) applications. Decruz brings a wealth of experience from across the food and beverage industry, the company says. In her new position, Decruz will lead the North American R&D team and support PROVA’s global R&D organization. PROVA also announced the addition of Mario Marin as inside sales representative to assist the North American sales managers with customer follow-up and tradeshows, as well as manage his own accounts for the company.
Royal DSM, Heerlen, The Netherlands, announces the completion of its acquisition of Glycom A/S, Hørsholm, Denmark, a supplier of human milk oligosaccharides (HMOs). With the acquisition of Glycom, DSM furthers its leadership in the early life nutrition and dietary supplement space, it says.
Saddle Brook, N.J.-based International Molasses reports seeing a rising demand for its EcoMolasses in agriculture resulting from growers placing emphasis on naturally effective ingredients for soil amendment. As a soil amendment and fertilizer ingredient, EcoMolasses is food-grade and high in bioavailable minerals and carbohydrates for feeding microorganisms that break down undesirable soil components, it says.
The Global Prebiotic Association (GPA), Spring, Texas, announced that FrieslandCampina Ingredients has joined the organization at the Member level. FrieslandCampina Ingredients has a robust digestive health portfolio, including dairy-derived galactooligosaccharide (GOS) and the company's HMO 2'FL, it says.
Kerry, Naas, Ireland, has expanded its clean-label food protection capabilities through the acquisitions of IsoAge Technologies and Biosecur Lab Inc. These acquisitions, which were completed at the end of 2019, enhance Kerry’s leadership in the clean-label space and expand the company’s capacity to serve this rapidly growing market, it says.
