Belfour Spirits announced the launch of its ultra-premium whiskey brand and family of products, The Spirit of Champions. Founded and led by Hockey Hall of Famer, Stanley Cup winner and Olympian Ed Belfour, who teamed up with his son and daughter, to create spirits with unique character for whiskey aficionados and cocktail enthusiasts. The three debut spirits are Rye Whiskey; Bourbon Whiskey, finished with Texas pecan wood; and a Limited-Edition Straight Rye Whiskey. The 47 percent alcohol-by-volume (ABV) Rye Whiskey features tastes of sweet caramel taste, butterscotch and cinnamon with a full-bodied velvety warmth with a peppermint finish, the company says. The 46 percent ABV Bourbon Whiskey offers a smoky vanilla and molasses taste with a long mellow warmth with a rich mouthfeel layered with vanilla finish, it adds. The Limited-Edition Straight Rye Whiskey has a 50 percent ABV and features tasting notes of light almond, white pepper, pear and apple while finishing with a lingering smoke and lasting warmth. Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits will distribute Belfour Spirits in Illinois and Texas beginning Oct. 1.
