Up-and-coming tequila company Alacrán Tequila released its latest ultra-premium anejo tequila, Alacrán Cristal. The tequila uses agave that is 7-10 years old and harvested in the highlands of Jalisco, Mexico. It also is matured for 14 months in American Oak barrels from bourbon, which generate a rich, woody flavor with a hint of vanilla, the company says. As a result of the company’s exclusive clarifying filtration process, a crystal product is produced with light gold reflections, it says. Each bottled then is hand labeled and numbered as a mark of quality, it adds. Alacrán Cristal has a sophisticated flavor and is deliciously smooth in taste without the sting, it says. It retails for $49-$59 a bottle and is available at lounges, high-end restaurants and stores.
