To help consumer packaged goods manufacturers boost the nutritional benefits of their products, Cargill developed IngreVita, a new oil blend. IngreVita features a blend of high oleic canola oil, fish oil and proprietary antioxidants and delivers long-chain omega-3s EPA and DHA. Because handling of the product is similar to canola oil, it is easy to use, offers good shelf stability and does not introduce off-flavors, the company says. For the general population, increased consumption of EPA and DHA through functional foods, as part of a balanced diet, could help to support health and wellness, it adds.
