BASF, Florham Park, N.J., added Brenntag Specialties Inc., South Plainfield, N.J., and Horn Co., La Mirada, Calif., as part of BASF’s human nutrition distribution network. Brenntag Specialties will serve BASF customers in the eastern United States and Canada. Customers in the western United States will work with Horn Co., the company says.
Bell Flavors & Fragrances received certification of Safe Quality Food 2000 Level 3 for its manufacturing facility at its headquarters in Northbrook, Ill.
Citroil Enterprises Inc. outfitted its U.S. headquarters in Carlstadt, N.J., with 1,200 solar panels on the roof and canopy of its 50,000-square-foot facility.
Corn Products International, Westchester, Ill., highlighted the opening of its new manufacturing facility in Balsa Nova, Brazil, which was built to produce its Enliten high-intensity sweetener. To ensure the highest production standards, Corn Products has an exclusive license with Japanese company Morita Kogyu Co. Ltd., which is a pioneer in the production of stevia, the company says. Corn Products International also announced that Santiago Vega joined the company as senior manager of nutrition marketing.

Flavorchem Corp., Downers Grove, Ill., acquired Marnap Industries, Buffalo, N.Y. Founded in 1979, Marnap manufactures kosher-certified food spices, flavors, oleoresins and essential oils.
International Flavors & Fragrances Inc. (IFF), New York City, launched its new Scientific Advisory Board to be led by Ahmet Baydar, senior vice president of research and development for IFF, who will oversee five members in key research and development areas that were identified in IFF’s global strategic review.
Symrise AG marked the beginning of renovations to its headquarters in Holzminden, Germany. A 10 million Euro investment, the company intends to house its research activities under one roof by October. In addition, Kaden Biochemicals, a member of Germany-based Symrise Group, announced an agreement that Carol Stream, Ill.-based Prinova USA will distribute Kaden Biochemicals’ botanical products in North America.
Allen Flavors, South Plainfield, N.J., hired David Kaplan as quality control manager.
P.L. Thomas, Morristown, N.J., expanded its sales department with the addition of Jennifer Thomas as East Coast territory manager for nutraceutical sales.
