Tequila Ocho Barrel Proof Reposado

Tequila Ocho introduced its new Barrel Proof Reposado.
The new release, the latest high-proof expression from Master Tequilero Carlos Camarena, hit store shelves and back bars beginning this summer and will return again for the holidays, the company says.
In keeping with Ocho’s artisanal methods and exacting standards, Barrel Proof Reposado stands apart from the already limited selection of high proof reposados on the market, it notes. The single-field tequila is made with overripe agaves from Rancho Las Raíces, which is located just 10 minutes east of Ocho’s home place, Tequilera Los Alambiques, and is rested in overused American whiskey barrels up to six months — three times as long as Ocho’s core Reposado expression, the company says. Despite the longer-than-usual resting time, Barrel Proof Reposado retains all of the agave essence that exemplifies Ocho tequilas, it adds.
Tequila Ocho’s distillery team blends only a couple dozen barrels at a time, utilizes non-chill filtration, and bottles the liquid at a strength of 50.5% ABV (101 proof), it notes.
Packaged in a 750-ml bottle, the limited-edition Tequila Ocho Barrel Proof Reposado is available to purchase in the United States for a suggested retail price of $84.
