The Finnish Long Drink, the Finnish-inspired spirit brand, is adding a Zero Sugar Variety Pack to its product lineup. The collection features a mix of four Citrus, four Peach, and four Pineapple cans—each with zero sugar, zero carbs, and 99 calories in each 12-ounce serving.
They’re also making one thing very clear: this is not a seltzer.
“Since we launched in 2018, we’ve had hundreds of thousands people post, comment, or mistakenly tell their friends that Long Drink is their favorite seltzer,” said Sakari Manninen, one of the Finnish co-founders of The Finnish Long Drink, in a statement. “But here’s the thing: we’re not a seltzer. We’re a long drink.”
While the brand has politely smiled and nodded their way through countless seltzer slip-ups over the years, they’re putting their Finnish foot down and making sure fans old and new know to do the same.
So what’s the difference? The long drink is a top-selling category of alcohol in Finland, its roots dating back to the 1952 Summer Games in Helsinki and the creation of a revolutionary new liquor drink that was both delicious and fast to serve, the company says.
Long Drink introduced its Zero Sugar Citrus flavor in 2019, and it quickly became a go-to for fans who wanted something light and refreshing, it adds. At 0% sugar and canned at 5% ABV, the Zero Sugar Variety Pack builds on that popularity with two new flavors exclusively available within the pack: Zero Sugar Peach and Zero Sugar Pineapple.
“Drinkers have been asking us for Zero Sugar versions of our Peach and Pineapple flavors, and so the Zero Sugar Variety Pack was born,” Manninen said. “We always listen to what our consumers demand.”
