Clean-label trends boast sugar reduction
When inquiring about the most popular trends in the beverage industry, the answer more than likely centers on clean-label ingredients and a focus on health and wellness. For many consumers, this translates to seeking out food and beverages with reduced sugar and carbohydrates.
According to Beloit, Wis.-based Kerry’s August 2018 white paper titled “Sensibly Sweet – Formulating for Clean Label Taste,” 71 percent of consumers read the sugar content on ingredient labels, resulting in sugar being one of the most important nutritional features that drives a purchase.
