CORE Nutrition launches low-calorie, fruit-infused line

CORE Organic will be available in May

Beverage News
March 4, 2016

Los Angeles-based CORE Nutrition, purveyors of CORE Hydration premium bottled water, announced its major market rollout of its newest innovation, CORE Organic, a USDA Certified, organic fruit-infused beverage with antioxidants and 5 calories in each serving.

Distributed through Big Geyser, the Honickman Group’s Canada Dry operations, Polar Beverages, Haralambos Beverage Co., Kalil Bottling Co. and Nevada Beverage Co., among others, the USDA Organic low-calorie beverage will be available in May at grocers including Kroger, Safeway/Albertson’s, Save Mart/Lucky Supermarkets, HEB, Sprouts Farmers Market, Acme, Tops Friendly Markets, Bristol Farms, and select Whole Foods Markets. Additionally, extensive distribution also will launch at 7-Eleven locations in May on both coasts as part of the retailer’s push for better-for-you beverages.

With CORE Organic, the company is tapping into America’s growing demand for organics, a market estimated at $40 billion that grew by 11 percent in 2014, according to Chicago-based Mintel. Additionally, 85 percent of Americans currently are buying organic and 75 percent of conventional grocery stores nationwide are carrying organic products.

“Organic is one of the hottest trends, but it’s not enough on its own,” said Lance Collins, chief executive officer and co-founder of CORE Nutrition, in a statement. “No one has been able to crack the code and deliver on all three attributes of organic, low calorie and great taste. So we set out to quench consumers’ thirst and deliver a revolutionary new product. Eighteen months later, we’re introducing CORE Organic, making organic enjoyable without the tradeoffs of taste or higher calories and so far the reception from retailers, distributors and consumers has been extremely positive.”

The low-glycemic CORE Organic has less than 1 gram of sugar in each serving and contains as much antioxidants as a half cup of blackberries or cherries, all derived from white tea extract and maqui berry, the company says. The beverage is gluten free, non GMO, kosher, soy free, vegan and certified USDA organic. CORE Organic is available in six flavors: Peach Mango, Watermelon Lemonade, Pomegranate Blue Acai, Orange Clementine, Coconut Colada and Orchard Pear.

As with CORE Hydration, CORE Organic is offered in a proprietary contoured wide-mouth bottle with a signature fade label. The full beverage line currently is available for purchase at select retailers in the Los Angeles area and retails for $2.49 for an 18-ounce bottle.
