The spirits industry has plenty of reasons to celebrate as the category experienced accelerated growth for the 10th straight year, as supplier sales were up 5.3 percent, volume up 3.3. percent and retail sales totaled $90 billion in 2019, according to the Washington, D.C.-based Distilled Spirits Council of the United States (DISCUS).

Bacardi Ltd., Hamilton, Bermuda, launched the hashtag #RaiseYourSpirits, an initiative to support bars and restaurants debilitated by the COVID-19 shutdown.
With guidelines from the World Health Organization (WHO) and exemptions and authorizations granted by the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB), many spirits-makers are helping to manufacture ethanol-based hand sanitizer.
