RTD coffee posts strongest single-year gains among beverage segments

The U.S. liquid refreshment beverage market grew again in 2017, with retail sales increasing about 3 percent and volume by around 2 percent, according to newly released preliminary data from Beverage Marketing Corporation (BMC), New York.

Dr Pepper Snapple Group Inc. (DPS), Plano, Texas, reported third quarter net sales of $1.68 billion, a 3 percent increase on favorable product and package mix, a 1 percent increase in sales volumes and higher pricing. Net sales growth was reduced in the quarter by 1 percentage-point of unfavorable foreign currency translation.
As health and wellness gains more attention from consumers, some food and beverage categories have faced new challenges. However, the bottled water market is one beverage category that has benefited from the increased prevalence of better-for-you products as more consumers strive to lead healthier lives.

The International Bottled Water Association (IBWA), Alexandria, Va., in conjunction with New York-based Beverage Marketing Corporation (BMC), released 2015 bottled water statistics, which show that Americans’ consumption of bottled water increased by 7.9 percent and bottled water sales are up 8.9 percent from the previous year, according to the companies.
My husband drinks a lot of water, particularly because he had a painful kidney stone in 2001. I also have several friends who attest that they immediately start each day, not by consuming a caffeinated beverage, but by drinking a 16.9-ounce bottle of water.
