Children’s toys like Connectagons bill themselves as offering limitless opportunities for constructing various objects. Although labeling equipment cannot be adapted as easily as these skill-building toys, original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) are developing systems that are more modular to support the evolving beverage market.

Suppliers are expanding their portfolios and helping beverage-makers in their packaging and distribution operations by maintaining quality control and increasing uptime. At drinktec, Gerhard Schubert GmbH and KHS showcased the benefits of the Innopack-TLM block packaging system which can pack beverage crates, baskets, clusters and other cardboard packaging. Sacmi debuted a cross-process quadblock platform that combines stretch-blow molding with labeling and filling all in one machine. Other companies are releasing devices to test the purity of water, inspect aluminum cans and increase production on the beverage production line.

Douglas Machine Inc. offers the TriVex SL top loader, which is designed to pack pouches and bags in a standup configuration into retail-ready display cases with one or two product facings, the company says.  With a quick and simple changeover, it packs pouches and bags flat with two or three products for each layer and has the ability to run vertical and flat packs on the same machine, it adds.

A-B-C Packaging Machine Corp. recently introduced its new 700 series robot palletizers utilizing a Yaskawa robot arm.

Rogers Machinery Co. Inc. introduced its Kobelco KNW Series, which provides ISO 8573.1 Class 0 compressed air quality, resulting in better products at a lower production cost, the company says. Delivered ready to run and designed for 24/7 operations, the oil-free, rotary screw compressors are available in air- or water-cooled configurations.

At Pack Expo in Chicago, A-B-C Packaging Machine Corp. introduced its new 700 series robot palletizers utilizing a Yaskawa robot arm. The 700 series palletizes cases, trays or bags in multiple configurations at speeds as fast as 30 cycles a minute, the company says.

Establishing an efficient labeling system can streamline operations, lower costs and lead to a more consistent product. When chosen correctly, a versatile label applicator will lead to a healthier bottom line.

The shows offered several guidepost destinations, including The Beverage Cooler Lounge, The Materials and Containers Pavilion, The Processing Zone, The Reusable Packaging Pavilion, The Food Safety Summit Resource Center and the largest ever Innovation Stage program, the show producer says.
