This year, SupplySide Global took place Oct. 26-30 in Las Vegas. The event was presented by Flagship Sponsor KSM-66 Ashwagandha and brought together experts from the health and nutrition industries from around the globe. Attendees browsed booths that showed off advancements in the development and manufacturing stages of products aiming to support longevity, health and wellness. Numerous technologies, ingredients and innovations were featured throughout the show.

Major participating companies included Nature’s Way, Nestlé Health Science, Unilever, PepsiCo, The Coca-Cola Co., Anheuser-Busch and more. More than 1,600 companies and industry professionals exhibited. Participants and visitors alike used the event as a means of inspiration for strategic business development.

Actus Nutrtion revealed four new ingredient systems. The new offerings aim to meet the evolving needs of performance, wellness and functional brands. “These innovations represent the next phase of our growth,” said David Lenzmeier, CEO, in a statement. “Through encapsulation and precision formulation, our teams are developing systems that raise the bar for performance and reliability. It will help position Actus for the next generation of consumer products.”

AIDP launched its new Sip & Sample Bar. The bar is a tasting center where functional dietary ingredients meet innovative food and beverage design, it says. Three signature concepts and 10 commercial products were available to sample at the full-service counter, including Brain Brew, Cogni-Seltzer and Thirst Magic Axis. “As the demand for functional food and beverages continues to grow, AIDP remains committed to developing nutritional health solutions for our customers,” said Mark Thurston, president of AIDP, in a statement. “By offering booth visitors an opportunity to try Magtein, PreticX and other clinically supported ingredients as finished products and product concepts, we’re giving science a seat at the formulator’s table.”

Innovator of functional ingredients Applied Food Sciences (AFS) announced an exclusive partnership with OleoLive Inc. Together, the pair will launch Oligen, a high-quality olive extract ingredient. The alliance combines AFS’ expertise in market development and formulation with OleoLive’s proprietary and patented extraction technology to provide a premium, USA-based solution for brand seeking to capitalize on the growing demand for science-backed longevity and mobility ingredients, it says.

Supplier of premium juice concentrates, natural colors and grape seed extract California Natural Color showcased its line of natural color solutions, which allowed visitors to explore the full spectrum of plant-based pigments and crystal color technology. The company says its proprietary crystal color technology offers several benefits, from more enhanced color concentration than liquid alternatives to a shelf life of up to five years. The technology is also clean label and compliant with emerging regulations.

Cargill highlighted its solutions for GLP-1 nutrition in a featured session. The session detailed the size of the market and strategies for success with healthy solutions to fill nutritional and metabolic wellness gaps. Cargill also underscored its commitment to delivering on consumer functional demands.

Kyowa Hakko Bio Co., Ltd., sponsored the show’s women’s health category. The ingredient innovator spotlighted its Cognizin Citicoline and Setria Glutathione branded ingredients. Cognizin Citicoline can support focus, memory, mental energy and long-term brain health, while Setria Glutathione’s benefits include support for immune health, skin health, respiratory health and sports nutrition, the company says.

United States-based grower and supplier of mushroom powders and extracts Monterey Nutra highlighted its recently released premium lion’s mane extract powder, ManeFocus. The proprietary mushroom extract features and optimal ratio of hardwood-grown fruiting bodies and lion’s mane mycelium extracted to capture active medicinal compounds, the company says. ManeFocus is suitable for coffees and other ready-to-drink (RTD) beverages, stick packs and more.

Nextin Research by MarketPlace hosted 10-minute trend talks followed by five-minute Q&A sessions, appropriately dubbed Nextin 15. “SupplySide Global is all about making valuable connections. With Nextin Research, we connect the dots between trends, innovation and market opportunity,” said Nicole Hill, vice president of strategy and innovation and MarketPlace, in a statement. “From multi-benefit functional beverages to the supplement delivery systems poised to challenge gummies, Nextin 15 micro presentations will spotlight unmet consumer demand to help industry professionals anticipate the future of their categories.”

NuAxon Bioscience Inc. showed off new science for BacoZen, its branded ingredient for sleep, stress and mood support. A blend of bacopa and ashwagandha extracts, BacoZen has been clinically studied to reduce stress, improve sleep and balance mood at a low dose of 250-mg twice a day, the company shares. NuAxon also is known for its innovation in botanicals. The company is currently conducting research to determine if its highly bioavailable botanical extracts can support the body’s absorption of less bioavailable nutraceuticals if combined in single applications, it notes.

Health-focused ingredient supplier Nutritas utilizes artificial intelligence (AI) to discover bioactive peptides. At SSG, the supplier showcased results from recent clinical and consumer studies on its branded ingredients, PeptiStrong and PeptiSleep. PeptiStrong is a network of cell-signaling peptides from plants. The peptides contain multiple clinical benefits for food, beverage and sports nutrition applications. Meanwhile, PeptiSleep is an ingredient for restorative sleep.

PLT Health Solutions Inc. served as SupplySide Global’s Official Sponsor for Performance Beverages. This sponsorship reflects PLT’s recent emphasis on developing science-backed, innovative “beverage-friendly” ingredient solutions that aid consumer products companies in launching disruptive products into a variety of health and wellness applications, it says. PLT’s concept beverage CREATEA Mighty Mango, a 12-ounce canned ready-to-drink (RTD) beverage developed to demonstrate the future of formulating functional beverages, the company says.

Ingredient and premix manufacturing solutions provider Prinova highlighted its functional nutrition capabilities in the form of three beverage formulations and an enhanced brownie. These concepts combine flavors with function and branded ingredients to demonstrate how manufacturers can develop innovative products that address key consumer trends. Two of the beverage formulations contain forms of protein, while the third is a ready-to-drink (RTD) energy beverage made with Prinova’s Enhanced Energy Blend.

Rousselot, Darling Ingredients’ health brand, presented its latest scientific advances and applications at SSG. The brand promoted Nextida GC, a collagen peptide composition that has been observed in a clinical study to naturally stimulate GLP-1 and GIP secretion, supporting the modulation of insulin response and reducing post-meal blood glucose spikes. The brand also showcased its full collagen portfolio of Peptan, Peptinex, ProTake and Colartix. Rousselot also hosted a presentation titled “Nextida GC: A Natural Approach to GLP-1 Innovation.”

Virginia Dare focused on its creatine and mushroom offerings at SSG. The company covered trending functional ingredients and key need states like sports nutrition and gut health. Virginia Dare emphasized its commitment to merging functional nutrition with memorable taste, showcasing samples such as its Whey Protein Shake and Pre+Probiotic Fizzy during the show.
