Wholesaler remembers executive’s leadership, integrity

Republic National Distributing Company (RNDC) announced with deep sadness the passing of Bob Hendrickson, interim CEO and president, on Oct. 17.
With more than 42 years in the industry, Hendrickson’s strategic vision, operational excellence and mentorship have shaped generations of leaders and established RNDC as one of the nation’s most respected wine and spirits distributors, the company says. From the early days of Republic Beverage Co. in 1997, through the 2007 merger that created the RNDC of know today, Hendrickson’s leadership, integrity, and passion guided every chapter reaching suppliers, customers and colleagues across the country, it adds.
As RNDC navigates this transition, the Board has appointed Marc Sachs as interim CEO and president to guide the company. Sachs, who serves on RNDC’s Board of Directors, brings more than 30 years of leadership experience and a deep understanding of RNDC’s business, relationships and people. Additionally, Jay Johnson, formerly region president west, will assist as a special adviser throughout the transition, providing insight and support. Importantly, Hendrickson was actively involved in the vetting process for RNDC’s next permanent CEO, ensuring a seamless and intentional succession plan. The RNDC Board will continue the search for a permanent CEO.
“Bob believed success came from the people around him,” Sachs said in a statement. “He was not only a trusted leader but a dear friend whose warmth, generosity, and unwavering loyalty inspired everyone who knew him. Bob built teams grounded in accountability, loyalty, and collaboration — a culture that continues to define RNDC today. Undoubtedly, his legacy will be felt for generations to come.”
