AFC Cable Systems, part of Atkore International, introduces its newest Liquid-Tuff liquid tight flexible conduit, which is specifically designed for splash zones, making it ideal for food and beverage equipment and devices, restaurants and more. The Splash Zone Liquid Tight Conduit features a moisture-, oil- and sunlight-resistant polyvinyl chloride (PVC) jacket that inhibits bacteria growth and won’t degrade due to “washdown/splash zones” with bleach agents, the company says. Thus, manufacturers are able to clean and sterilize using bleach without the risk of product degradation. Additionally, the Splash Zone conduit is compatible with AFC’s Food Grade Liquid Tight Stainless Steel fitting, which contains polyester elastomer compression seals to prevent ingress of food or bacteria. The National Sanitation Foundation (NSF) classifies a splash zone as a location where direct contact with food products is not expected during normal operation. Instead, the splash zone location can be where liquids used in processing or cleaning can splash or spill on the surface, causing a risk for dripping or draining onto other surfaces. The UL listed Splash Zone Liquid Tight Conduit prevents this from occurring. The conduit is CSA NSF 169 component compliant, meaning that it meets and exceeds standards for material safety, design, construction, and product performance in the food and beverage industry.
