The Connacht Whiskey Co. announced the launch of its Ballyhoo! Irish Whiskey. A four-year-old grain whiskey finished in port barrels, Ballyhoo! Is 43 percent alcohol by volume. Ballyhoo! Begins as a sourced Irish whiskey with a mash bill of 93 percent corn imported from France and 7 percent malted barley that is further aged at the distillery and finished in used port barrels from Portugal, the company says. The port-barrel aging softens the grain whiskey and rounds out the flavor, it adds. A 750-ml bottle of Ballyhoo! Irish Whiskey has a suggested retail price of $29.99 in select markets.
