Special offers, sustainability drive new packaging

Double Cola Co.'s SKI brand to launch limited-edition packaging

July 16, 2015

Summer special

The Double Cola Co. released a limited-edition 12-pack for its citrus soda, SKI brand. Its retro design was voted No. 1 last year by SKI fans through a label design contest that took place on Facebook. The limited-edition packaging will be available for consumers to purchase this summer only. Consumers love the nostalgic design as it reminds them of the original SKI logo developed generations ago, the company says.

Here come the goblins

English cider maker Thatchers is re-launching its Green Goblin Cider to the U.S. market in a new 330-ml bottle, in partnership with Innis & Gunn USA Inc. (IGUSA) seven months after entrusting the craft brewer’s U.S. business with its flagship brand, Thatchers Gold. At 5.0 percent alcohol by volume, Green Goblin Cider is available in on- and off-premise locations in bottles, it is also available on draft. Thatcher’s Green Goblin Cider is available nationally in single 500-ml bottles priced at $3.99, and it costs $8.99 for a four-pack of 330-ml bottles.

Eco-friendly espresso

Lavazza, “Italy’s Favorite Coffee,” introduces the first compostable coffee capsule for Italian espresso in partnership with biochemical corporation, Novamont. The compostable capsule can be disposed of along with other organic waste and processed industrially to become compost. The capsule, compatible with the Lavazza Minù coffee machine, will be available initially in Italy beginning in 2016. It contains two high-quality blends of 100 percent Arabica coffee beans certified by Rainforest Alliance, which verifies the economic, environmental and social sustainability of raw materials.

Complete compatibility

Melitta USA announced that its Melitta Café de Europa gourmet single-serve coffee capsules are now compatible with all Keurig-style machines, including the Keurig 2.0 brewer. The newly compatible single-serve coffee became available in May. The unique capsule design is made with a filter, which allows water to fully saturate the grinds for a bolder, richer cup of coffee. Designed with the environment in mind, Melitta’s single-serve coffees also are eco-friendly and 100 percent recyclable.

A better reflection

DRY tastemakers of gourmet sparking beverages, unveiled a new look for its line of craft beverages designed to better reflect the brand’s premium flavor profiles and upscale, culinary taste experience. The packaging redesign, which debuted at Natural Products Expo West in early March, includes an updated logo, modern typography, realistic photography and ingredient-specific design elements.

Online exclusive

While it continues to roll out nationally, Trimino, a protein-infused water has created a four-flavor sample pack available online. The Trimino mix four-pack contains Peach, Mixed Berry, Strawberry Lemonade and Coconut Pineapple varieties. It retails for $9.99, plus $2 for shipping.
