Greensboro, N.C.-based Volvo Trucks North America, Greensboro, N.C., announced that it has increased the work capacity of its western U.S. locations by 15 percent since January 2010, including the addition of nearly 80 truck service bays, 135 Volvo-certified technicians and nearly a 22 percent increase in parts inventory. As part of this expansion, Volvo recently opened its La Merida full-service dealership, which includes a 14,000-square-foot warehouse featuring more than $5 million in parts inventory and 45 service bays staffed by 37 technicians, five of which are Volvo master technicians, in Los Angeles and a parts facility in Sylmar, Calif., which houses nearly $500,000 in inventory. The company also plans to open a body shop, leasing facility and repair facility in Fontana, Calif., a new 13,000-square-foot parts and service center in Battle Mountain, Nev., and a body shop, sales and service center, and all-make parts center in Portland, Ore.
