Formulated Energy
Nutrition Resource Services created Krank’d, a non-carbonated performance beverage that combines components of energy drinks and vitamin waters into one formula. The company says Krank’d offers a tri-carb blend to give “energy on demand” as well as electrolyte recovery, muscle fuel, appetite suppression and detoxifying antioxidants. The eight flavors – Fruit Punch Blast, Orange Citrus Blast, Grape Blast, Lemon Lime Blast, Piña Colada Blast, Watermelon, Lemonade, Peach Tea – are sold in 16-ounce bottles for $1.99 to $2.49.
Lemon line
Honest Tea Inc. launched a new line of organic citrus quenchers called Honest Ade. The first two varieties, Cranberry Lemonade and Limeade, offer half the sugar of most bottled lemonades and have 50 calories per serving.
Espresso revelation
Luctor International added Espresso Vodka to its line of flavored Van Gogh Vodkas. The company says Van Gogh’s master distiller perfected the espresso flavor after working with various measurements of freshly roasted coffee beans. Combinations of Espresso Vodka mixed with other vodka flavors and topped with foamed milk or cream create unique martini concepts. The 70 proof Espresso Vodka retails in a 750-ml. bottle for $25.99.
Soy smoothie
Carbotrol Foods has developed Soy Blendz, a non-dairy smoothie with a focus on flavor and nutrition. Available in Mixed Berry Medley, Mango/Orange Dream, Orange Citrus Splash and Strawberry/Banana Blast, the smoothies use the whole soybean to capture soy’s nutritional benefits, and contain no artificial flavorings, sweeteners or preservatives. Soy Blendz retails for $1.99 and does not require refrigeration, but the company says the taste is enhanced when chilled.
‘Your essential source’
Natural Precepts released Yes! as a convenient way for consumers to get their five to eight servings of fruits and vegetables. Instead of a multi-vitamin tablet, consumers can now get 12 vitamins, 10 minerals, 70 trace minerals, eight antioxidants, 22 amino acids and other essential nutrients in Yes! With the tagline “Your essential source,” Cherry Twist Yes! will retail in the convenience channel for around $1.89, and will be exclusive to 7-Eleven until August.
Enriched water
Triple A Products LLC launched VitaZest Vitamin & Fruit Enriched Water as a new alternative in specialized water drinks. VitaZest has no carbs, calories, sugar or caffeine. Each bottle contains 10 essential vitamins and minerals, with up to 125 percent vitamin C in some flavors. The enriched water comes in eight flavors: Blueberry, Mango Cherry, Kiwi Strawberry, Pomegranate, Lemon Lime, Passion Fruit, Peach Melon and Orange.
Who’s your daddy?
Who’s Your Daddy Inc., an international licensing company that designs and distributes products that bear the trademark-protected brand, released a Who’s Your Daddy Energy Drink. Dubbed by the company, “King of Energy,” the energy drink packs a caffeine punch with a cranberry pineapple flavor. The company feels the can’s design and highly marketable name sets it apart in the energy drink market.
Fresca makeover
Coca-Cola North America made over its Fresca brand along with two new line extensions that will launch in September. Fresca will be given a contemporary look, including a new logo and new packaging graphics. Two new flavors – Sparkling Peach Citrus Fresca and Sparkling Black Cherry Citrus Fresca – will also be introduced as a zero calorie line extension to the brand.
Optimal hydration
Coca-Cola created Powerade Option for active people seeking hydration for any occasion throughout the day. Powerade Option provides electrolytes and B-complex vitamins at levels comparable to regular Powerade, but with fewer carbohydrates and fewer calories. Powerade Option comes in Strawberry, Black Cherry and Lemon.
Luxury light
Heineken USA introduced Heineken Premium Light Lager to the United States in four select markets. The light lager combines a lighter taste with subtle flavor cues of regular Heineken. Heineken Premium Light Lager has 99 calories and is packaged in a new sleek 12-ounce bottle in six-packs, 12-packs and 24-packs.
Fresh waters
Eat Inc. released Cañita Aguas Frescas – traditional Mexican drinks that use a variety of exotic fruit, flowers and seeds such as tamarind fruit and hibiscus flower petals, plus sugar and water. Available in Hibiscus and Tamarind flavors, Cañita Aguas Frescas contains all natural ingredients and no preservatives.
Child’s play
The Republic of Tea’s Kid’s Cuppa, an all-natural herbal fruit tea, is handcrafted “for children in support of children.” Created for children’s palates, caffeine-free Kid’s Cuppa is a blend of apple bits, hibiscus, elderberries, rose petals and vanilla beans. It can be enjoyed warm or over ice. Each 1.9-ounce tin of Kid’s Cuppa contains 36 tea bags and retails for $8.50. The company will contribute $0.75 from every tin of Kid’s Cuppa to Sunny Hills Children’s Garden.
Light import
United States Beverage introduced Dutch brewer Grolsch’s new Light Lager to the United States. The brewer’s first product in the light beer category, Grolsch Light is described as cool and crisp, with 107 calories. The company says the product is brewed to deliver more taste than current European light beers, and retains the character and quality of the Grolsch brewing.
