Grolsch, the Dutch imported beer managed and marketed domestically by United States Beverage LLC, has introduced its Amber Ale nationwide. Grolsch Amber Ale is a top-fermented beer made by Grolsch master brewers who have brewed the beer with a special proprietary yeast, two varieties of two-row European spring barley malt, a small amount of wheat malt and a blend of several types of hop. The resultant beer is amber colored and features a slightly bitter taste, according to the company. Grolsch Amber Ale is available in six-packs of 12-ounce bottles.

Murrieta's Well Winery has released its 2001 Vendimia Red Meritage, a Bordeaux-style wine. Sourced from the winery's 92-acre Livermore Valley estate vineyard, the wine is a proprietary blend comprised primarily of Cabernet Sauvignon. The ultra-premium 2001 Vendimia Red Meritage retails for $32 and is available nationwide. Támas Estates Winery has released its 2001 Barbera and 2001 Sangiovese, two California-style Italian varietal wines from the Livermore Valley. The rich, flavorful wines can be paired with hearty pasta and roasted meat dishes, according to the company. The Barbera and the Sangiovese are $12.99 per 750-ml. bottle. Two thousand cases of the 2001 Barbera and 1,000 cases of the 2002 Sangiovese are available nationally.

High Falls Brewing Co. LLC has launched two new J.W. Dundee craft brews: American Pale Ale and American Amber Lager. The two beers capitalize on the success of J.W. Dundee’s Original Honey Brown, which received a gold medal at the 2004 World Beer Cup. The Amber was brewed with four different crystal malts and features a crisp finish, and the Pale Ale uses Cascade, Amarillo and Tomahawk hops, according to the company. An eight-pack sampler offering six bottles of Honey Brown and one bottle each of Pale Ale and Amber Lager will be available for a limited time where High Falls products are sold.

Cachaça invasion
Excalibur Enterprise, New York City, has launched a line of super-premium cachaças, a Brazilian-style rum, in the United States. The Excalibur portfolio includes an un-aged cachaça as well as six handcrafted, aged Cachaças from small producers. In addition to Beleza Pura Cachaça, an un-aged, super-premium Cachaça produced with selected lots of sugar cane and wild yeast, the offering will include two varieties of Cachaça Rochinha: Single Barrel 5 Year-Old and Single Barrel 12 Year-Old; GRM Silver, Small Batch 2 Year-Old; and Armazem Vieira in three styles: Esmeralda Solera 4 Year-Old, Rubi Solera and Onix Solera 16 Year-Old. The cachaças will be sold in 750-ml. bottles and range in price from $27.99 to $84.99.
Excalibur also plans to unveil a ready-to-drink version of Brazil's national drink, the Caipirinha, in January 2005. Beleza Pura Caipirinha is a blend of lime, sugarcane and Beleza Pura Cachaça.

Dewar's, imported by John Dewar & Sons Co., Miami Fla., has announced that 1,000 bottles of Dewar's Signature Scotch Whisky are available this month in select areas including Chicago. Retailing for $200 per 750-ml. bottle, Dewar's Signature comes in a crystal bottle with a polished copper stopper. The bottle features an embossed symbol and a hand-crafted ceramic label. The whisky is housed in a silk-screened wooden tartan gift box.
