Keane’s leadership brings nearly 20 years of beverage industry experience

American Beverage (AB), Washington, D.C., announced that Kevin W. Keane, a longtime member of the beverage industry’s leadership team, has been named its new president and chief executive officer. Keane will provide day-to-day leadership and management of the industry trade group to advance its strategic priorities, working in close partnership with AB’s full team and the AB Board leadership.
The American Beverage Association (ABA), Washington, D.C., announced that Kevin Keane will serve as interim president and CEO effective immediately. Keane will succeed Katherine Lugar, who recently announced she will return to the hotel industry as executive vice president of global corporate affairs at Hilton.

Independent analysis marks third consecutive year of notable calorie declines

Independent evaluator Keybridge LLC released its annual report on progress toward a nationwide goal, set by the beverage industry and the Alliance for a Healthier Generation, to reduce the calories and sugar Americans get from beverages. The report noted that 2019 saw the largest single-year reduction in calorie consumption and the third consecutive year of declines since the launch of the initiative.
Association will provide leadership in transition to circular economy for plastics

In this role, ABA will provide leadership in the transition to the circular economy for plastics and work with pact stakeholders to promote its acceleration, the association says.

As the trade association celebrated a century of refreshment, it welcomed a network of beverage industry executive leaders for its Centennial Advocacy Summit, which took place Oct. 28-30 in Washington, D.C.
