Brand Coca-Cola up 1 percent in North America in second quarter

The Coca-Cola Co., Atlanta, reported its second-quarter and year-to-date 2014 operating results. In its quarterly financial statement, the company reported worldwide volume growth of 3 percent for the second quarter and 2 percent year to date, with gained value share in non-alcohol ready-to-drink (NARTD) beverages.
Dr Pepper Snapple Group Inc., Plano, Texas, reported that net sales and volume both increased 1 percent, respectively. These increases were impacted by favorable product and package mix and net pricing, partially offset by unfavorable segment mix and 1 percentage point of foreign currency.

Dollar sales for carbonated beverages in U.S. retail stores increased by 1.9 percent in 2012 compared with the prior year; however, volume decreased by 1.6 percent, according to Euromonitor International, Chicago.
