UV sanitation lights effective against COVID-19
Respiratory mask recommended when sanitation lights in use
Larson Electronics LLC offers UV sanitation lights that are effective against the COVID-19 coronavirus. Compared with traditional liquid cleaning agents, the lamps disinfect surfaces or objects without direct contact, the company says. When using UV sanitation lights, safety must be prioritized because the units release light beams in the UV-C range (wavelengths ranging between 200 nm and 280 nm) during use. The company warns that that this range can be harmful to human eyes and skin, causing corneal injuries, skin burns or skin cancer. When performing UV sanitation in potentially contaminated areas, a respiratory mask is recommended to prevent workers from breathing in deadly viruses/toxic chemicals and to reduce direct contact when touching the face and mouth.
