Splinter Group Spirits, a brand of Vintage Wine Estates, introduced Partner Vermouth. A sweet vermouth from the gardens, orchards and vineyards of California, Partner Vermouth is a blend of Merlot and Petite Sirah, heightened with fresh Tartarian cherries from Lodi, Calif., then layered with spices including smoked black cardamom, star anise, Indian coriander, allspice, blessed thistle, eucalyptus leaf, fennel seed, cinchona bard and wormwood, the company says. The spirit is sweetened with organic sugar, it says. The vermouth is deep ruby-purple in color, smoky and exotic on the nose, fruity on the palate with a long finish that cleans up with bitter herbs, it adds. Partner Vermouth is nationally available at fine drinking establishments and purveyors on a limited-release basis. At 17.5 percent alcohol by volume, Partner Vermouth is packaged in six-packs of 375-ml bottles, which have a suggested retail price of $25.
